A rather dated somewhat drab looking little place next to Holy Cross Hospital with various offerings of Greek foods and pastries, general used by nearby hospital and medical staff works to grab a quick bite to eat. No doubt about one thing, it is Greek and basically Greek without giving way to Americanized compromises. Besides really good pastries such as traditional baklava they also offer some really nice selections of cheese, spinach, meat or eggplant pies in combination with some of their soups; Greek lemon, chicken and rice being my favorite. It's a very easy on the wallet place (tough to spend over ten bucks) and when eating on the cheap, one of the better restaurant selections within easy distance of the Holy Cross Hospital and medical complex areas.

Excellent Greek pastries! Homemade, tried and true, time after time, baklava is one of my favorites and this is the real deal. This establishment has been here for over a decade. Enlightened by fellow Yelpers that have lunched here, I am looking forward to munching at this nostimo (that's Greek for delicious) little locally owned and known spot.

I almost never do review updates, but I'll make an exception for this case because it warrants it. Since I last wrote this review, the ownership of Greek Pastries has changed hands, and even though it was good before, it's even better now! They still serve basically the same menu (gyros, spanakopita, tyropita, moussaka, pastichio, salads, pastries, etc.), but the new Greek owners are just so wonderful. When they purchased the restaurant, they updated the inside with new furniture and decorations and just gave the whole place a much-needed refresher so everything looks nicer. It's still super tiny on the inside and gets crowded during the lunch rush from the doctors' offices and hospital nearby, so I always do take out instead of eating in. As far as the food, I'm still a big fan of the overstuffed gyros (chicken or lamb are my favs), the Greek salad, and the tyropita (cheese phyllo pie) is my other go-to. I also love the pastries: baklava, kataifi, little butter cookies with powdered sugar, and this delicious honey walnut cake that has some impossible Greek name I won't even attempt. The walnut cake is homemade and a specialty, so I always grab it when I can. So sweet and delicious! While the food is tasty, what really impresses me about this place is the service. From my second visit with the new owner, she remembered me and my order and is always super pleasant and polite. That's great customer service, and I really appreciate the extra attention they pay to their customers. If you enjoy Greek food in a cozy little local joint, check out this hidden gem by Holy Cross!

This place is one the best Greek places in town. Please keep in mind they are under fairly new ownership-this is not the same place it was 2 years ago! Fresh homemade soups, gyros, salads, pastries, high quality ethnic foods, and more! If I could eat here every day, I probably would. The owners are as pleasant as can be and have the most accommodating attitude and yes- they are Greek! This is a great place. My only qualm with them- why haven't they opened up another one right next door to my house?!
This is the BEST greek cafe right by Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I am ALWAYS pleased with the warm friendly service and it is a cute quaint place to unwind from a busy or hectic mornng. Small seating area, but just judge accordingly and come before the lunch rush or just after if you really need a seat. It is super nice is Florida. The sun shines here year round. Take the day off and find a picnic table and grab a few meals from this greek pastry deli as they are officially called. LOVE THE FOOD HERE!!!!!!! I usually get the greek salad. Sometimes a Gryro platter.

I really like this spot for a healthy lunch option by the hospital! The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming, and service is always efficient despite the lunch rush. The Greek salad is really great (esp w gyros added) and so are the stuffed grape leaves. The large Greek salad only comes with one stuffed grape leaf so add some extras for $0.50 each! For some reason I wasn't a huge fan of the gyro pita though??? But it seems popular. And I wish the spanakopita was a little more crispy. But overall, wonderful little place!! I don't know if I'd go out of my way to come here, but would definitely stop by if in the area and craving Greek :)

Family owned business with genuinely kind staff. They go out of their way to help and remember your name. They are law enforcement friendly with pricing, which is extremely generous. Their food is out of this world authentic and will leave you wanting more. Try this place once, and you'll forever be a customer here!!!!

Today was my first experience here and I will definitely be back! I had today's special, which was the lamb shank with orzo. I didn't even need the knife because the meat was delicious and so fall-off-the-bone tender. I also took a custard pastry to go and it was delicious and rocked my world! Service is friendly and efficient, and the price is right, especially for the quality and quantity. Hours are limited so if you find yourself free with a little extra time during the weekday, come stop in and give it a try!

I visited this restaurant 3 times last month. I had never been there before. The first time I had a Greek egg croissant sandwich which was delicious! I also had ordered a galaktoboureko which was unbelievably and also had spanakopita which was equally good. When I visited yesterday, I ordered a galaktoboureko and it was not fresh the filling was like cottage cheese instead of custard.

I've driven past this Greek joint pretty much my entire life. I've always seen the "pastries" sign and wondered, "Do they have baklava?" So I stopped in, and it was baklava heaven. There were 4-6 different versions of baklava. One is shredded, one is layered, one has walnuts, the other has chocolate drizzle. The possibility is endless and Oh, the choices. So I picked out three pieces, a layered triangle (I consider this one the most known), the shredded and the rolled one with chocolate. They were all delicious. If you haven't had baklava before, you need it. Gotta have it. Go get it.... The employee working there (might have been the owner?) was extremely friendly and gave me all the details I wanted to know about their menu items. I noticed they had meat pies and I took that puppy home for a try. She told me that everything is hand made in the restaurant, and you could tell. I walked out smelly strongly of fresh onions and roasting meat. Jonathan and I tried the meat pie and it was great. It's very similar to an empenada but flat and rectangular with different spices and filo dough for the crust. I think next time I'll add a little powdered sugar to the top. I think this is an essential stop whenever I come by from now on.

I have driven by this place too many times to count without ever having the thought to stop in. Today for some reason I was in the mood for Greek food and I figured, why not. The facade is quite unassuming, but that should not stop anyone from dining here. It is a hidden gem. Once inside, I was greeted by the nicest women. I presume it was a mother-daughter combination, and even though they made fun of my terrible parking job (I admit, I backed in my car, and my back tire was on the sidewalk), they were as warm as can be. The menu is limited to the what could be considered "popular" Greek dishes. Of course you can always go with the old reliable, gyro, but today I was in the mood for the pastichio. For those that do not know, pastichio is the Greek version of lasagna. It is made with Greak seasoned ground beef, macarani and bechamel. The price of the lunch was $6.95 and included a nice sized Greek salad with loads of feta, a grape leaf, kalamata olives and red onion. You can't go wrong with a Greek salad, and this one was right on point. Great dressing as well. The pastichio was also excellent, and not too heavy for lunch. It came out just hot enough and you were able to discern the dried oregano mixed in the ground beef, which I love. During my lunch, I spoke with the owner of the restaraunt who was a dear woman. She hold me about how she ended up in this county. A great treat to learn her moving to this country, how her husband fought in the war and their escape during the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus. After the meal, I of course had to try a pastry, so upon recommendation I tried the galatoboureko. This is a lemon-scented Greek custard wrapped in phyllo dough covered in a honey syrup. I personally am not fan of sweets, but I have to admit this was one of the best pastries I have ever indulged in. Not too sweet, the right amount of lemon in the custard and perfectly flaky. I left with a big smile on my face because these are the types of places that make me appreciate food. The mom and pop joints that aren't in the business to make money, but rather to invite people into their culture and transport them to where they are from and what they ate (of course making a buck doesn't hurt). I cannot wait to go back and try some more.

Overall, it was a food experience: good food, friendly staffs/owner, and most importantly, CHEAP. Would have given it five stars if the lamb/beef had more flavors. This place is nonetheless a to-go-to spot the next time we visit Ft Lauderdale

Umm some of the reviews people said the owner was mean- I've been here like 3 times and umm she's very very sweet and her son also works behind the counter and he's super sweet too!!! Definitely one of the best places to get a quick Greek bite to eat. This is a mom & pop shop, literally, just the owner and her husband run the place and do everything themselves. There are maybe 16 seats to eat (at most) and they fill up during lunch so either get there early or get take-out. The gyros are probably the biggest and best gyros around, the flour tortilla is thick and tasty and the chicken is all white meat, big chunks, like rotisserie but dryer. The aioli sauce is delicious. A gyro (that will fill you up) and a soda is only $5. Their salads are OK, but I prefer their gyros. I hear their mousaka is amazing as well. This is a great place to pick up a bite to eat for lunch for a really cheap price. It looks very unassuming and hidden, but seek it out because it's completely worth it.

I love this hole in the wall!!! But don't park in her 2 parking spaces if you are not eating there or she will hunt you down and make you move!! So this tiny place is attached to the physicians building of Holy Cross on the corner of 47th and US-1. It is easily missed. Been there several times now and I just can't get enough. Lunch only and very limited menu. They have cute Greek tasty pastries. Basically their menu consists of Gyros (chicken, beef, & veggie), Moussaka, Spanakopitas, salad, pastries, and I think that is it. I have had it all and it is soo great and soo cheap...soo cheap I feel guilty and I give a large tip to make up for the great food. For like $7 you can get a gyro and salad that fills you up! It is also a mini mini market selling a few Greek items like Tahini and other random canned items plus these yummy sesame bars at the register. There are only maybe 5 tables and max can fit maybe 15 people. I know she opens as early as 9 or earlier and stays open later for lunch maybe 4 or 5pm...not even sure if its opened on weekends. My Big FAT Greek best kept lunch secret!!

Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.
Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.
For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Greek cuisine not only tastes good but also help maintain your body in a natural way through healthy diet.

very good, "secret" lunch place, tucked right next to Holy Cross Hospital. Awesome greek salad dressing, awesome feta cheese on said salad. Good gryo, fiancé had the chicken salad melt on a pita, very good. Awesome, almost crispy thick pita. Gyro meat and chicken gyro meat come off a spit, so its got to be pretty legit. not open on weekends. Super small, like 8 tables, 3 outside. Parking is a bear too- just free valet it. Check it out.

The only thing wrong with this little Breakfast and Lunch Café is the name. It's a whole lot more than just pastries. I stop here for lunch every time I'm in the neighborhood anywhere near lunch time. I'm never disappointed. The place changed owners a year or so ago and the new Greek Family that owns it an runs it treats everyone like a member of the family. Nothing fancy but the food is great and a great value. I did not grow up Greek and I've never been to Greece so I cannot attest to the "authenticity" but I've enjoyed every thing I've every had and I've tried most things on the menu. And the name is Greek Pastries so I do usually indulge in a small box of pastries and stuffed grape leaves to go. These are the best stuffed grape leaves around.
